The Power of the Word

Prophetic service, 13 September 2026. The text is John 1:1: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” God’s Word is not passive. Hebrews says it is living, powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. When the Word takes root in you, it changes who you are and makes you an answer to the trouble around you. God honours His Word when it is spoken in faith, and He confirms it with signs following.

Through the spoken Word you carry authority to pull down strongholds, speak life, establish righteousness, and execute judgment. The psalmist says God sent His Word and healed them and delivered them. It may not be a tablet from a pharmacy, yet it carries the power to cure sickness and break a chain. When your confidence sits in the Word, you can speak to a storm and expect the same awe the disciples felt when even the winds obeyed Him.

Every child of God is a spiritual authority in the place where they stand, but that authority has to be rooted in the Word. Those who know their God shall do exploits. A child of God is a kingdom principality. And anyone who curses you is cursed.

In a night vigil, a young girl collapsed and passed away. Panic moved through the congregation and her mother wept. Papa Ejike stayed in faith and kept proclaiming the authority of God. He did not leave the assignment of the pulpit. He finished the sermon, held by the conviction that God can do all things. Afterwards, while the church prayed, he went into the office where the girl had been laid, prayed in the power of the Holy Spirit, and life returned to her body. He walked her back to the congregation alive. The church was filled with awe, and their faith in God’s Rhema word was strengthened.

On another occasion, in a teaching hospital, ministers crowded around a dying girl while her mother wept on the floor. Moved by faith, Papa Ejike went to the bed, leaned over her, and breathed on her in the power of the Spirit. She sneezed, revived, and stood up. Praise filled the hospital.

In 2005, Papa Ejike visited a church in Abuja and met a girl living with HIV who had not eaten solid food for months. She was living on watery pap. He told her, “Say: By His stripes, you are healed.” For the first time, she sat down and ate at once. When he returned two months later, she was so well that he did not recognise her. The HIV test had turned negative. He asked, “What is it that God cannot do?”

He also went to Ukpo and met a woman who had been pregnant for two years. He prayed for her, and the child, who had been spiritually stolen, was restored to her womb. As he instructed, the boy was named Ekeledirichukwu.

The Word is the foundation of faith. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. When you build a real relationship with God through His Word, understanding becomes manifestation. Everything needed for life and godliness is wrapped in the Scriptures. As you yield to the Holy Spirit, He leads you into truth and directs your steps, and your life sits on a foundation that does not shake.

There is no limit to what God can do. You are not ordinary, and the words of your mouth carry weight. Life and death are in the power of the tongue, so idle speech has no place. Let your words be true, sincere, and honest. God has called you His battle-axe. Speak the Word in faith, break barriers with your tongue, and watch Him turn the decree into reality.
