The Actions of a True Christian

Prophetic service, 20 September 2026. The text is Acts 9:36–43. In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, also called Dorcas, a woman full of good works and almsdeeds. She became sick and died. The church washed her body and laid her in an upper room. Because Lydda was near, the disciples sent two men to Peter and asked him not to delay. Peter went with them. The widows stood weeping, showing the coats and garments Dorcas had made. Peter put them all out, knelt, and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” She opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up. He gave her his hand, lifted her up, and presented her alive. It was known throughout Joppa, and many believed in the Lord.

Do good to everyone around you. Even if someone you have helped turns their back, do not stop doing good. People cannot give what they do not have. A believer who has what it takes to be called a child of God must keep that stand and refuse to compromise it.

Tabitha was known for her charity. Give in humility, not in arrogance, and never think you are better than anyone else. If God has lifted you, it is by His grace. What you hold today may be another person’s small expense. Be humble at heart. The Scriptures teach us not to let the left hand know what the right hand is doing. Whatever good you can do for another person, do it without hesitation and without waiting to be paid back. That freedom keeps you from being disappointed when they do not applaud you. Keep doing good. Every good deed you sow is waiting for you ahead.

Tabitha’s goodness was so plain that when she died, the church cared for her body, sent for Peter, and sought God. God honours those who seek Him. When Peter prayed, she opened her eyes. Her good works had spoken for her. Wherever you are, let your character preach Jesus.

The family you must cherish most is the company of believers, bound in love rather than hate and strife. A brother or sister in Christ is spiritually nearer to you than a relative who is outside the faith. It is a serious thing to cheat a fellow believer and call it brotherhood. Ask yourself what you are known for. Can people trust you as a Christian?

Character is everything in this walk. Stand on integrity and keep a high moral standard. If you say you belong to God and then fight in public or quarrel in the market, you dishonour Him, because those who do not believe will not understand. Use wisdom to stay out of trouble. Refuse malice. Learn how to approach people in a way that builds them.

Free your heart for the Holy Spirit and let God use you. Let go of old hurt. Nobody can take your peace unless you hand it over. Carrying offence only weighs a life down. Do not harbour bitterness. Practise discipline, self-control, and integrity. Contentment with godliness is great gain. Stop competing. Let other people run their race. Stay in your lane, keep improving, and keep moving forward.
